60-minute-song: Writing, tracking, mixing, and posting a song …

Ever wonder what it would be like to compose, arrange, track, mix and post a song in 60 minutes or less? It’s a great way to kickstart your creativity and streamline your music creation process. I learned of these during FAWM, and it is called a “Song Skirmish”, where you receive a prompt at the top of the hour, and have hopefully created a song by the end of it. I took a live video from start to finish so you can enjoy the insanity.

The prompt for this skirmish was “Already Dead”, which features prominently in my chorus. I tracked vocals, harmony, drums, guitar, and bass, and as you will see, some of the tracks are just one take as there was no time for more.

The “finished” product is the song at the end, titled “Dead Fish”. It’s pretty raw, but it’s nice to hear what you can get done even if you just have 1 hour.

I got tired of the repetitive nature of all the jingles with snaps, claps, ukulele, so I made a parody song. Enjoy 🙂
